In fact, Italians are not afraid to speak what’s on their mind, and certainly not afraid to show their emotions. Whether youre traveling to Italy or simply taking Italian lessons, its a  good idea to learn how to express your emotions in Italian.  Below are some Italian words and phrases you can use to express yourself and sound like a true native. Now that youve studied the various different emotions in Italian, its time to learn how to use these words in conversation. To express the phrase I am… use the Italian word  Sono See the examples below: Sono triste. (I am sad.) Sono arrabbiato. (I am angry.) Sono stanco. (I am tired.) Sono innamorato. (I am in love.) Remember, you must conjugate the emotion depending on who you are describing. Masculine words ending in  â€œO” should be switched to a feminine ending “A” and visa versa.  See the examples below: Lei è sorpresa. (She is surprised.) Lui  Ã¨ felice. (He is happy.) Lei  Ã¨ arrabbiata. (She is angry.) Lui  Ã¨ occupato. ( He is busy.) Solve Math Equations In math there are various branches and different kinds of equations to solve. Algebraic equations contains numbers, constants, known and unknown variables, exponents to the variables. The study of algebra consists of solving for the known and unknown variables. There are different mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division used to solve the equations according to the requirement. Example 1: Simplify and solve for x in the equation 6(x 1) + 5 if x = 2? Solution: Given equation is 6 (x 1) + 5. Here the unknown variable which needs to be solved for is x. First step: Distribute 6 for x - 1. This gives: (6 x 6) + 5 = 6 x 6 + 5 = 6x -1. Now substituting x = 2 in the simplified equation 6x 1. This reduces the given equation to 6(2) 1 = 12 -1 = 11. Hence the solution is x = 11. Example 2: Simplify the equation 3 (x 20) + 4 (x + 1) - 10? Solution: Given equation is 3 (x 20) + 4 (x + 1) - 10. Here the variable is x; distributing the number in front of the braces. This gives 3 (x - 20) = 3 x 60; 4 (x + 1) = 4 x + 4. Combining the similar terms in the equation. This gives 3 x 60 + 4 x + 4 - 10 = 7 x 66. Hence the simplified form of the equation is 7 x - 66.

College Tuition Hikes Easing

College Tuition Hikes Easing With $50,000 colleges and beyond, it only appears as if the cost of college is absolutely skyrocketing. However, new research actually suggests that the total net cost of college (tuition minus scholarships/aid) is decreasing slightly, according to an article in the Washington Post. In the previous few years, colleges have hiked tuition at record rates. But now, colleges are announcing much smaller tuition increases for the 2011-2012 school year. Tuition costs increased rapidly during the Great Recession, but costs are now starting to level out. Tuition costs are decreasing partly because colleges previously received a lot of criticism for record-breaking tuition hikes. Also, colleges are growing increasingly more concerned about their tuition costs, competing with one another to offer a quality education at the best price. Many state governors and colleges board of trustees are opposing significant tuition hikes; some are opposing any tuition increases at all. Other governors and board of trustee members are placing tuition increase or total cost increase caps at certain percentages, meaning they are mandating that colleges cannot increase tuition higher than a certain percentage. The average, national college tuition increase from 2010-2011 to 2011-2012 is 4.5%, marking one of the lowest tuition increases in the past 20 years. Also, financial aid is now increasing faster than tuition prices, which is how the net price of college is decreasing slightly. College may not cost any more for students entering in 2011 than it did five years ago. Stanford University, one of the nations most expensive colleges, recently approved a 3.5% tuition increase for the 2011-2012 school year, increasing its fee to $52,341, with $40,050 of it for tuition. George Washington University, another one of the nations most expensive colleges, announced a 2.9% tuition increase for the 2011-2012 year, and its board of trustees capped the total cost-of-attendance increase at 2.7%.

Guitar for Kids 5 Best Childrens Guitar Books Suzy S. Guitar books can be a great help for kids who are interested in guitar lessons. Guitar teacher Matthew K. shares five of his favorite guitar books for younger students The guitar is an instrument that has to be learned by doing. During my experience as a guitar teacher, Ive found it essential to use a book for kids ages six to ten. Books can keep the student on track, but should not be the only teaching method used. Its important to keep lessons fun and interesting with songs and riffs that the child can connect with. A child wont learn everything about the guitar from a book, but books can provide a great visual aid during your child’s learning experience. Below, Ive compiled a list of five of my favorite childrens guitar books (in no particular order) for kids to use during lessons. 1) Guitar for Kids for Ages 5-9 by Bob Morris and Jeff Schroedl  Hal Leonard Guitar Method (Songbooks) Hal Leonard makes great books for learning the guitar. This particular book is one Ive used on many occasions when teaching younger kids. It introduces each string individually with fun songs and exercises. It includes popular songs such as Yellow Submarine, Hokey Pokey, Im a Believer, Surfin U.S.A., This Land is Your Land, and Hound Dog. Theres also a CD included to aid the learning process when your childs guitar teacher is not around. The only drawback to this book is the lack of stimulating illustrations that many other children’s books use. 2) Childrens Guitar Method by William Bay Mel Bay Publications Mel Bay is another popular name when it comes to instructional books for guitar. I like this one because it introduces guitar chords early, in an easy and fun way. It is also a great introduction to note reading, music theory, and introduces strumming patterns before getting into the individual notes. There are two drawbacks to this book. First, it has out-of-date visuals. The book was authored in 1982, and it shows. The other drawback is the lack of introduction to tablature. Tablature is the most popular form of notation on the guitar, and it is completely ignored in this book. 3) Kaseys Guitar Jams for Kids: A Play-Along Guitar Book for Young Beginners (Volume 1) by Kelly Gordon Weeks Kellys Music Books I really like this book! It was published in 2012, and its primarily for very young, beginning guitar players. The visuals are great, and the author immediately introduces pick-holding technique and chords with fun new songs. The songs are original, very funny, and will keep your child interested. The only drawback is that this book doesnt have any popular songs included. However, as a teacher, this doesn’t bother me, as I would introduce popular songs through my own method and would only use the book as an aid for chords and notation. 4) Alfreds Kids Guitar Course, Book 1 (Book and Enhanced CD) (Kids Courses!) by Ron Manus and L.C. Harnsberger Alfred Publishing Co. This is the best-of-both-worlds book. Its 48 pages full of colorful illustrations that draws children in immediately. It introduces partial chords and rhythm immediately, and contains a CD to show your child how the songs are supposed to be played. I prefer guitar books for kids to contain a CD, because it’s important for a child to hear how he or she is supposed to sound when playing the guitar. This book is great because it introduces blues, jazz, and classical through colorful cartoon characters. It gives kids a great introduction to the roots of music. 5) Beginning Rock Guitar for Kids: A Fun, Easy Approach to Playing Todays Rock Guitar Styles  by Jimmy Brown Hal Leonard Some kids just want to rock! This is the perfect book for those kids. It doesnt bog the student down with too much theory and history but instead jumps right into proper technique and fun, modern rock songs. I really enjoy the comic-book-style illustrations. This one also has a CD included and is probably the best of the bunch to really get the student excited about learning the guitar. 4 Things to Know About the Common App The Common App is an extremely convenient way to apply to multiple colleges without having to re-enter the same info multiple times through different portals. Hundreds of American universities require prospective students to submit an application through the Common App website, or at least have it available as an option. Before you eagerly get started, however, keep in mind these four important things to know about the Common App: 1. You may be eligible for a fee waiver Aspiring college students should know that the Common App website itself is free to use; what students end up paying is the application fee(s) for the individual college(s) to which they apply. Keep in mind that the application fees are likely to vary from school to school. [RELATED: What to Know About Choosing a College Application Platform] However, you may be eligible for a fee waiver, which would allow you to apply to colleges at no cost. Generally, fee waivers are reserved for lower-income students who meet eligibility requirements established by the College Board or NACAC. Be sure to select the fee waiver option if you plan on choosing this method. If you are unsure whether this option applies to you, speak with your high school admissions counselor. Also, be aware that checking the fee waiver option alone does not guarantee that your application will be viewed by a school; you must prove you are eligible to receive it. 2. Word counts should be abided by Since submitting essays on the Common App is a matter of merely uploading a document, some students may think that the word count is irrelevant. Students may think it will go unnoticed if they write an essay that exceeds the word count; but in fact, disobeying the word count is always ill-advised. College admissions officers will likely take notice, and it would probably not be beneficial to your applications status. Failure to follow directions can suggest that a student is careless or defiant. Be aware that word counts are established for a reason. One of the reasons is to reduce the volume of paperwork that admissions counselors must review for each application. When you are a college official who has to sort through thousands of applications, an extra paragraph makes a difference. In the end, this saves valuable time for admissions staff to be able to devote fairattention to all applications they receive. Students should be mindful and respectful of this, as well as of other applicants who are indeed abiding by these rules, and stay within the allotted word count. The preview feature is a helpful tool The preview feature allows you to look over your completed application before you submit it once and for all. This is a wonderful way to catch any silly mistakes or typos, and it will show you the near-to-exact way your application will appear to colleges. It is often best, though, to rest your eyes for awhile before giving your application that final glance; the eyes tend to get tired and skip over details that may better grab your attention at a later time. Come back to your application anywhere from a few hours to a day later, and then hit the submit button only once you are completely satisfied. 4. Dont wait until the last minute Between homework, studying, touring campuses, and everything else you have on your agenda, you may find yourself procrastinating with your college applications. It will be tempting to wait until the last few days, or even the last few hours, before a deadline to submit your application. If possible, make an effort to have your application completely filled out, along with all supplements and essays, at least five days prior to the deadline. This will give you time to compensate for any potential curveballs that are thrown your way.
